Sam Icklow is an award-winning Australian filmmaker and educator with a passion for telling authentic stories and elevating diverse voices. His work has screened internationally at Frameline, The Tate Modern, and Slamdance, amongst other venues, and he has also directed social content for Jake Thompson and HBO (Big Little Lies).

Sam received his MFA in Directing from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he was selected write and direct two parts of a compendium feature film starring Whoopi Goldberg, and produced several award-winning short films.

He is a BAFTA LA Scholar and a recipient of the Motion Picture Association of America award. He has also worked extensively as a cinematographer and editor, teaches in Entertainment Studies at UCLA Extension and is the Creative Director of Bold, an online fitness platform for older adults and people with limited mobility.

He has lived in Indonesia, Germany and the United States, and is a founding member of the Berlin-based queer moving-image arts collective, NowMomentNow.
