Sam Icklow (he/they) is an award-winning Australian filmmaker and educator with a passion for telling authentic stories and elevating diverse voices. Sam's work has screened internationally at Slamdance, Outfest Frameline and the German Historical Museum in Berlin, amongst other venues. They have also directed social content for Jake Thompson and HBO (Big Little Lies).

Sam received an MFA in Directing from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where they were selected write and direct two parts of a compendium feature film starring Whoopi Goldberg.

Sam is a BAFTA LA Scholar and a recipient of the Motion Picture Association of America award. Sam has worked extensively as a cinematographer and editor, teaches in Entertainment Studies at UCLA Extension in LA, at the UTS School of Design in Sydney and is the Creative Director of Bold, an online fitness platform for older adults and people with limited mobility.

Sam has lived in Indonesia, Germany and the United States, and was a co-founder of the Berlin-based queer moving-image arts collective, NowMomentNow.
